Getting to Know my New Neighborhood

Now that we are settled into a new house, it is time to start exploring the neighborhood and learn where all the stores are. While we are only ten minutes from our old home, we are in a different city and more remote then before. Fortunately for me, one mile up the road is a Dollar General, and it’s a Dollar General that has a large grocery section, at least 5 aisles, frozen foods and cold foods. I think it’s only missing produce. I have shopped at Dollar General for years, in several states and have always found that they carry a lot of items with a great value. As I started couponing, I really started paying attention to the deals there, but until recently I hadn’t ever tried the Dollar General Clover Valley brand. When the opportunity came about to share a recipe of mine using the Clover Valley brand, I decided to go for it and headed to my new Dollar General to pick up supplies for a BBQ with my in-laws. I thought why not have a fun little grill out in the backyard after swimming in the pool while my mother-in-law and father-in-law were in town. Once inside of Dollar General, I couldn’t just stop at what I needed for dinner, but had to pick up a few items to decorate our table and serve our dinner on. I mean, come on, the prices are so low and the colors are so festive! The kids loved having a fun table for dinner, but enjoyed the ice cream holders I picked up for a $1 a piece even more! On the menu was grilled chicken, steak, easy grilled potatoes and s’mores ice-cream sundaes. It was delicious and we had a blast!
